“People closer to the governor offer a different take. “Once he got beat, he reverted back to, ‘I want to be liked,’” says a former Schwarzenegger aide. “It’s classic narcissism.” (The governor declined requests for an interview, but I did walk away with three custom-made Daniel Marshall cigars from his office.)” —jackass.

“President Obama is shelving a plan announced in the final days of the Bush administration to open much of the U.S. coast to oil drilling, including 130 million acres off California’s coast from Mendocino to San Diego.” —Yay!

“As usual, I left Paris thinking it was not as good an eating city as New York. Though the variety and creativity are getting there, there’s still no comparison.” —

“… in a high-end Santa Monica coffee shop, one of those mad-scientist places where they grind the coffee in front of you and serve it in vacuum-sealed flasks on a silver tray.” —Also funny.

“‘It did happen once,’ he said. I was screaming into a speakerphone and banging on the table, and the people in the room were astounded that I lost my temper.’ Did he learn anything from his trip to the dark side? ‘It turned out that I’d pounded my fist so hard that I’d disconnected the line,’ he said, laughing ‘For two minutes I was yelling into a dead telephone. It was like a wasted tantrum.’” —Funny.

“Back then, he had been a casual tenant of his attractive, still-young body; now he was a fearfully vain and anxious occupant of an older model.” —Soldier’s Joy
