“The “search” function has been farmed out to mighty Google and will be a little goofy for the first few days.” —n+1
such a sane way to approach launching a new site. it’s gonna be a little goofy for a while!

About this Roethlisberger article... → ajc.com

haguenite:

This is so relevant to my interests. Not necessarily the sham of an investigation, but the language used in the article.

“a college sophomore claimed that she was raped by the Pittsburgh Steelers star that night.”
A college sophomore claimed the Pittsburg Steelers star raped her.

“her claims that she was assaulted at a nightclub early on the morning of March 5 by the NFL star”
Her claims that the NFL star assaulted her at a nightclub

“the woman’s claim of sexual assault”
the woman’s claim that Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her

“where the woman claimed she had been assaulted”
where the woman claimed Roethlisberger had assaulted her

“He asked her if she had been raped.”
He asked her if a man/Roethlisberger raped her

LANGUAGE MATTERS. We need to stop taking the assailant/rapist out of the passive position and make him active. THANK YOU AND GOOD NIGHT.

I do not know what to do about the systematic dismantling of the rights of women, immigrants, minorities, children, gays, lesbians, trans people, and the poor, and the upholding of the “rights” of corporations over everything else. I don’t know what to do about it.

Schoolchildren in Sweden are being terrorised by an elk. That would be bad news in itself, but this case gets worse – because the elk is drunk.

“Funny how politicians running for reelection never take any responsibility for problems that have festered during their long tenure while claiming to have a solution… if we only elect them again.” —here

“The lady denudes herself, takes a seat near the window, and takes in the warm rays of the sun. The effect is both beneficial and delightful. If, however, she be of a restless disposition, she may dance, instead of basking, in the sunlight.” —Barkham Burroughs’ Encyclopaedia of Astounding Facts and Useful Information via
